Anna Francesca Gurtis was born in Milan.
Having obtained the diploma from the Language Lycèe in 1980 she graduated from the Milan Accademia di Arti Applicate (Accademy of Applied Arts) with the silver medal of merit for her thesis.

She started her career in design creating trade-marks and logos for different companies.

In 1987 she won first prize in a competition with her trade-mark for the "Istituti Suore Marcelline"
In 1990 she won second prize (out of 16,000 competitors)in the competition announced for the creation of the "Mascot" for the World Cup football match in 1990. Within the same competition she gained fifth place (out of 20.000 competitors) for her creation of "Official Trade mark" of the World Cup football match of the same year.

During this period she attended the Scuola di Pittura (Painting School) run by artists Ettore Maiotti and Luisella Lissoni.

She paints her pictures with a palette - knife using oil paint mixed with encaust.

She has exibited in Milan at the American Consulate, Galleria Bolzani, Galleria il Tempo Ritrovato,
Spazio Guicciardini, Sever, and Zaccaria in Concerto, Pavia at Artexpo, Padua at Arte Padova (2000,2001,2002) Ancona at Ancona Arte. At Bormio she competed for "premio del Presidente(prize) "Europa 2000" and at the Comunità Montana. In Rapallo at the Town Hall, Monza at Expo Arte, Tolcinasco at the Golf & Country Club"Tolcinasco Castle", Rivoli Castle (Gallery la torre della Filanda), Ferrara (Gallery Il Nuovo Rinascimento); Lugano at Art Gallery Le Lac, Bari at the Fiera del Levante, winning prizes and recognitions from the public and critics alike.

One of her works "Le Mantelle", which won a prize at Paviartexpo, is presently travelling round different exibitions in Europe.

It is mentioned in the most important Italian art directories.
